The undergraduate programme in commerce (B.Com with Computer Application) was introduced at Government College Kasaragod, as per G.O (M.S) No. 420/12 H.Edn, of Government of Kerala during the current academic year 2012-2013. Accordingly it has been decided to start the programme with an intake of 30 students, and after the admission process from among a huge total of 519 applicants, I semester classes were commenced on 11-10-2012.
The Honourable Minister for Education of the Government of Kerala, Sri. Abdu Rabb inaugurated the Programme on 12 November 2012 amidst the gathering of a huge number of people and academicians along with the staff and students of the college. The introduction of the programme has been the long-cherished dream-come-true for the students and people of Kasaragod. Since there was no permanent faculty in the college for commerce, the additional charge of the programme has been given to Sri. Francis O.S, Assistant Professor, Department of English. A guest faculty (Ms. Zahina Mahin) has been appointed in the department until new permanent hands join the college.

In addition, a B.Com Graduate can also appear for various competitive examinations conducted by
PSC, UPSC and other Boards where qualification of B.Com degree is mandatory.
B.Com graduates can also easily crack professional examinations for becoming CA, CMA, ACCA,
CS, CPA, CFA and so on.
Students who have completed B.Com with Co-operation have the additional benefits of getting
employed in Co-operative Banks and Co-operative Boards.
