ABOUT THE LIBRARY

The library is the heart of every academic institution. It caters to the information needs of the students and faculty.The college has a well – equipped library to cater to the academic needs of the students and staff of the college.The library acts as a centre of academic activities. The inception of the Library dates back to the year 1961. The library existed as General Library and now all Departmental Libraries are centralized and is kown as CentralLibrary. The Library area comes around 10000 Sq.ft. Thelibrary has a separate reference section and Reading room with necessary seating facilities. Recently Central Library installed “Kibo” specially for visually challenged students,which is used for translate any to any language text and audible.The Central Library on the campus has a good collection of 70446 books. The spacious library, designed in a ‘Nalukettu’ style, is a cynosure in the campus with a beautiful garden on the patio. The clienteles have enough reading space including long verandas used by students group for learning. The reading room on the first floor is having a seating capacity for 125 persons and a seating facility is also provided in the stack rooms. The library has enough number of textbooks and reference books for supporting all academic programs. We subscribe to 54 printed journals that support especially researchers and postgraduate education. The Library also subscribes to 22 popular magazines and 12 newspapers. A lot of online resources are also provided,  through the UGC NLIST service.  A separate reference library is maintained. The Central Library is open from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. on all working days.

     “Kibo XS” platform is a well designed scanning and reading device which enables easy capture and read in multiple Indian languages through PCs/Laptops/Android Devices. It supports both printed content and well written handwriting. It is having high accuracy and high speed scanning and it works online with Kibo Web .

     

    Kibo AI driven technology enables visually-impaired people to search, download and listen the books and handwritten documents.
